What Jeremy did this weekend

He started Saturday morning at around 10:30 with a trip to the lumber yard (the colored plastic had been acquired earlier in the week), and worked until sundown.

Our kids (and one or two others) lent him a hand.

He screwed the roof on around 8 p.m. and called it a night.

Sunday afternoon was spent installing the front door, a drop-down table and some shelving in the corner.

As of Sunday evening at 6 p.m. the house was fully functional.  Future plans include some sanding and painting, a door latch and perhaps a plywood floor.  I guess that subscription to Family Handyman came in handy (ha ha) after all!

Blackberries

A friend found a few blackberry bushes on the hill where the cows graze behind our house.  So last weekend the girls and I went on a mission to gather enough to make some ice cream.

I didn't manage to get any photos of our haul (or of the millions of burrs and thorns that we pulled out of our clothes and fingers, or of the kids' purple faces - mama fail), but we did make some ice cream.  It was pretty good.

I thought maybe I'd go back there wielding some pruning shears, and appropriately attired in my Xtratuf boots and gardening gloves.  But then today I picked up 8 kilos of blackberries at a nearby produce market for 22 lari, or $15.  So maybe not.
