Jvari

J had to work a later shift today, so we spent the morning at Jvari monastery. It's a UNESCO Heritage Site and only about a 20-minute drive from our house. I had been there before, on a 2006 visit to Tbilisi, and the view was just as pretty as I remembered.

Zoia giving me a heart attack.

The view is of the town of Mtskheta, Georgia's spiritual capital.

Inside the church.

This is Saint Nino, credited with converting Georgia to Christianity in the 4th century. She is widely revered among Orthodox Georgians, and many women here bear her name.

Picnic time.

Have I mentioned how nice it is to have our car? :)

  2. Georgia looks beautiful! It seems like Sofia isn't even close in terms of beauty.
